Hello welcome to part three, and we have been reliably informed that at least one person is reading this, so it's all good. Firstly just to wish you a very Merry Christmas and an even better year in 2009 than 2008.

AGM

Firstly, high up on the clubs agenda is the AGM, which has been set for Monday 19th January, at the club. Please come along, so you can have your say on all things FCC.

There are a large number of positions to be filled, if you want to run for one of these positions, please notify the secretary (Nigel Blown) by 9th January 2009. Any nominations made after this date will not be accepted.

New News

The club received some exceptional news last week. After the huge disappointment of initially being rejected for entry into the Kent Cricket League for the second team, the committee and groundstaff worked tirelessly to improve the playing surface. Frindsbury were awarded a second pitch inspection, and having recognised the hardwork put in by the groundstaff, in conjunction with an ECB pitch inspection, passed our ground fit for Kent League Cricket.

Frindsbury Second XI will, as of 2009, become the first Frindsbury team to play Kent League Cricket. The news on the KCL can be found by clicking here.

Thanks to Nigel and Alf pullen along with many other committee members who worked their socks off from the moment we won the league to the second pitch inspection.

The club has been given a development plan, which will ensure that the picth receives the treatment it needs to be able to offer the best cricket possible, which the club is now fully committed to.

Frindsbury now have in our possession our own Bowling Machine. It has been purchased, and almost ready to use for the coming season. We also have a new mat for the outdoor nets, as well as new netting, so in 2009, so both outdoor nets will be fully operational.

Hello there, and welcome to part two of the blog. I don't really know who, if anyone is actually reading this, but thought we'd do it anyway.

Right. The dates for nets have been sorted out, and all details will be available below. FCC has many events organised for the winter, and hopefully, all info will be found somewhere in this blog.

New News

With the help a grant from Energy giants E-on, and well done Nigel Blown for finding it, we are currently in the process of purchasing a bowling machine for use at the club. I think we will become the first club in Medway with our own one. We will also be looking to buy new matting for the outdoor nets, as well as improving the bowling run-ups. this will hoepfully make Frindsbury Cricket Club the place to train for cricket in Medway.

Some more great news is that Frindsbury have now been awarded Focus Club status, and Dave Gracey says;

" We are very proud to have this award bestowed upon us by the Kent Cricket Board and the many people that give their time to the club must be applauded for a great achievement. This is an English Cricket Board accolade in recognition of the work that Frindsbury cricket club does for its own community in terms of our links with local schools such as Chattenden Primary, English Martyrs Primary, Kings school Rochester and Greenacre school, and the relationship we have with other local cricket clubs such as Elliotts CC and EEM CC who are not so fortunate as ourselves in having a junior section. We are one of only four cricket clubs in Medway who hold this award and only 46 in the whole of Kent ."

What does it mean for us in practical terms? well this is what Kent Cricket Club say:
"It shows that they are well run, ambitious and clearly having aspirations beyond their current activity. It means that they will gain priority treatment with regards to improved communication, help with access to resources, advice on volunteering opportunities, grant aid, equipment, coaching, talent identification and progression, match play, administration, child welfare and any other areas of club development that will ultimately increase participation and improve standards in club cricket. "

Events

The fundraising committee, superbly led by Jo Budd, have arranged a range of events in the run up the New Year;

This Friday, is the event of the decade for Frindsbury Cricket Club, as we are having our first Dinner/Dance of the current generation. The event promises to be a superb evening, that will hopefully be the first of many.

29th November - The Chairman's Saturday night quiz - NOW FULLY BOOKED.

16th December - Next committee meeting. 7.30pm at THe Pavilion.

21st December - Christmas Bingo. Doors open at 6.30. Was a great event last year, and the ideal opportunity to win some luxury Christmas goodies.

31st December - Needs no introduction really, The Clubs New Years Eve party. What a brilliant night it always is, book early to avoid disappointment. This years theme; "wear a hat".

19th January - the club's AGM. 7.30pm at the club. Please come along, to voice your opinion, and to elect te officers you want in charge at the club.

The Nets

Right then. The Nets. The important bit, and where the new season begins.

Under 11's - Friday 9th January, 6.00pm - 7.00pm at Chadlington House, Kings School, Rochester

Under 13's - Friday 9th January, 7.00pm - 8.00pm at Chadlington House, Kings School, Rochester

Under 17's/ Seniors - Sunday 11th January - 1.30pm - 3.30pm at Greenacre School

All Net sessions will continue, excluding half term, until week commencing 20th April.

Thats about it really. The committee are busy creating a huge profile of events for 2009, from league matches, to cup games, friendlies and interclub games, as well as Paintballing, the presentation day, training sessions etc, so although not a lot happens at the club during the winter months, everyone involved is by no means hibernating.

If you feel you can or would like to help out with any of the events or sessions we hold, please do get in touch with any of the committee members, or drop us an e-mail frindsburycricketclub@yahoo.co.uk
